Letter from the Executive Director
Dr. Barbara R. Nicholson
Executive Director

May 2006 commemorates our 19th anniversary. We are 19 years young and still evolving with your help and support! We thank you for your support and hope that you will remain with us through the next few decades.

The past years have shown us that we must continue to dream the boldest dreams; that we must continue to build bridges of harmony and opportunities for mutual success; and, that together all things are possible.

The King Arts Complex and our constituents are a tapestry reflecting bits and pieces of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream come to life--black and white; corporate and community; rich and poor; young and old--all coming together in celebration of a vision for our city, our communities and America.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers and Women's Service Board, I thank you for both your past support and your continuing commitment. Thank you for entrusting your children to us during summer camp, Saturday Arts School or Winter & Spring Arts Institutes. Join us in Mayme Moore Park for one or all of the 8 Heritage Concerts over the summer in July and August. Thank you for attending one of our outstanding performances or viewing the works of our talented artists in the Elijah Pierce Gallery. It is your support and participation that nurtures greatness in our artists, our young people, and our children and in us.

Still there is work to be done. We invite you to become a member, make an annual contribution in support of programs and operating costs, become a volunteer---invest in the King Arts Complex. Thus, I extend a personal invitation to each of you to come and experience The King Arts Complex!
