The King Arts Complex Vision Statement
The vision for
The King Arts Complex is to serve as a Greater Columbus resource
providing all citizens the opportunity to be educated, exposed,
entertained and enriched by the history of the African-American
experience and the contributions of African-Americans, past and
present. People of all colors, creeds, economic status, religion,
and age. will feel welcomed and comfortable, with a greater understanding
and respect for those of diverse cultures, specifically African-Americans.
The Complex will have credibility as a vital cultural and community
resource, providing relevant, engaging, and fun educational opportunities
for both children and adults. Institutionally, we envision a stable
organization with endowments, adequate earned income, capital funds
and continued private and public sector support.
The vision for The King Arts Complex
is inherent in our mission statement and the nine strategic goals,
as defined by our board of trustees and staff. The mission of The
Martin Luther King Jr. Performing and Cultural Arts Complex is "to
enrich and improve the quality of life in our community and society,
creating enhanced understanding and harmony by preserving, presenting,
and fostering contributions of African-Americans through creative
expression and education." Belief statements, as well as strategic
goals and objectives for the programming and operation of The King
Arts Complex, enhance this mission statement. Our belief statements
include, "The King Arts Complex provides all communities the
opportunity to discover and appreciate African-American culture.
Activities held by The King Arts Complex are responsive to the needs
of the communities served and are consistent with the mission, goals
and objectives of The Complex."
